Description
A LIBRARY service that has loaned books to schoolchildren for more than half a century could be scrapped in a bid to save money.
The School Library Service (SLS) was set up in 1954 and provides mostly non-fiction books for a third of all the schools and nurseries in the four former Avon authorities.
Now Bristol City Council – the only party that funds the scheme – says the cost can no longer be justified.
