Youth Services Bath & NE Somerset to go

10:03 Sep 20 2010 Bath

Description
The future of council-run youth services will be discussed by politicians in Bath tonight.

Bath and North East Somerset Council officials have suggested the authority concentrates its activities on three youth “hubs” in a move that would save £400,000.

It is keen to protect the newly-refurbished Southside Youth Centre from cuts, with two out of five other centres - Riverside at London Road, Peasedown St John, Timeout at Keynsham, Radstock and Batheaston - surviving.

The authority’s children’s services overview and scrutiny panel will discuss the options at a meeting at the Guildhall at 5.30pm.

Young people, activists, and opposition councillors will protest over the plans before the meeting.
